Title: Youth Work for Gender Awareness in the Euro-Mediterranean Context
Duration: 24 months (01/01/2024 – 31/12/2025)
Location: Italy, Jordan, Morocco, and Spain
Donor: EU Commission.
In 2012, Lunaria embarked on a journey to promote gender equality through various initiatives. This strategy promoted exploration into sensitive gender-related issues such as stereotypes, discrimination, and women’s empowerment. Collaborative projects with European and partner country organizations were launched under this strategy.
Building on this legacy, the Jordan Youth Innovation Forum (JYIF) proudly introduces Phoenix project. This groundbreaking initiative targets young women, peer educators, local youth workers, and representatives of organizations. The project Phoenix aims to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment through tailored youth work methods and approaches.
The Heart of Phoenix:
Gender equity and women’s empowerment serve as the cornerstone of Phoenix. By utilizing non-formal education methodologies, the project endeavors to raise awareness on gender-sensitive topics and promote equal rights and opportunities for all individuals.
Specific Objectives:
Project Phoenix is driven by a comprehensive set of objectives aimed at fostering gender equity and empowering women. Central to our mission is raising awareness on gender-sensitive topics and advocating for equal rights and opportunities. We strive to facilitate the exchange of best practices, enabling civil society organizations to share successful strategies for gender equity and women empowerment. Moreover, we are committed to developing youth work methods that empower youth workers to promote gender equity effectively. Through the launch of innovative pedagogical approaches, we aim to test and implement new teaching methods and non-formal learning experiences. Crucially, our efforts are underpinned by a dedication to enhancing inclusivity, to ensure the active participation of marginalized youth, with a particular emphasis on empowering young women.
Aim of Phoenix Project:
This project aims to enhance gender equity and young women empowerment by providing youth workers, peer educators, local organizations, and international NGOs in EU and Mediterranean countries with new tools and methods, training modules, and pedagogical approaches. These resources will enable stakeholders to raise youth awareness on gender-sensitive issues, both within local communities and at the international level.
Methodology:
Phoenix will utilize dynamic non-formal education methodologies, emphasizing hands-on learning experiences. This project will remain adaptable, tailoring its methods to meet the diverse needs of participants and foster cohesive learning environment.
Phoenix symbolizes a beacon of hope for gender equity and women’s empowerment across EU and Mediterranean countries. Join us on this transformative journey toward a more inclusive and equal society.
