The Jordan Youth Innovation Forum (JYIF), in cooperation with partner organizations from Europe and the Mediterranean region, invites applications to participate in the National Social Hackathon – Together for the Future, a three-month blended initiative focused on the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence in the youth sector.
The National Social Hackathon will bring together youth workers, students, educators, and professionals to develop practical AI-based concepts addressing key challenges faced by young people in digital environments, including hate speech, misinformation, and online exclusion.
About the National Social Hackathon
The National Social Hackathon is designed as a structured collaborative process that supports multidisciplinary teamwork, guided learning, and mentorship. Participants will work in teams to develop project concepts that promote ethical, inclusive, and democratic digital practices in youth work.
The national phase will conclude with a selection process.
The selected national team will represent Jordan at an international social hackathon to be held in Italy, alongside selected teams from partner countries.
What the Programme Provides
Participants in the National Social Hackathon will receive:
• Access to a structured three-month programme
• Participation in team-based project development
• Training workshops on generative AI, online hate speech, and project development
• Guidance from mentors with relevant professional experience
• Opportunities for peer learning and national-level exchange
All participants will receive formal confirmation of participation.
The selected national team will receive additional support to prepare for the international hackathon in Italy.
Programme Format and Duration
Duration: Three months
Format: Blended (online activities and national-level sessions)
The programme includes:
• Online launch and orientation session
• Team-based ideation and development activities
• Two national workshops :
– Artificial Intelligence, Hate Speech, and Youth
– Project Development and Fundraising
• Ongoing mentor support and progress reviews
• Final national presentations evaluated by a jury composed of an AI expert, a youth-sector professional, and an institutional or policy representative.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be based in Jordan and fall within one of the following profiles:
• Youth workers
• Students in STEM or related fields
• Teachers / educators
• Young people engaged in civic or social initiatives
• Professionals working on social discrimination, human rights, or inclusion
