From October 19 to 23, 2024, the Jordanian Youth Integration Forum (JYIF) hosted a five-day Local Training Course in Amman as part of the DEVMIGRA project — a landmark event designed to equip youth workers with the practical tools, methodologies, and mindsets to better serve young migrants in Jordan.

Running in a hybrid format that combined in-person participation at the JYIF office with online engagement, the training brought together 10 dedicated youth workers for an intensive, hands-on learning journey. Led by facilitators previously trained through the DEVMIGRA international training, the course drew directly from the DEVMIGRA Manual — translating its principles into real-world practice.
Each of the five days built upon the last, moving from foundational theory to concrete creation, and ultimately to a collaboratively built toolkit ready to be deployed in youth centres across the country.
In recognition of the diverse circumstances of youth workers across the region, the training was designed as a hybrid event — allowing participants to engage either in person at JYIF’s Amman office or remotely via online platforms. This flexible approach ensured maximum reach and inclusivity, reflecting the very values that DEVMIGRA champions.
By the end of the five days, the impact was clear and tangible. Participants left not just with enriched knowledge, but with practical deliverables in hand: completed NFE session plans, digital storytelling storyboards, and contributions to a shared youth-worker toolkit — all ready for immediate use in the field.
Beyond the materials, the training cultivated a stronger community of practice among youth workers in Jordan. Participants described increased confidence in facilitating difficult conversations, a deeper appreciation for the psychosocial dimensions of working with migrants, and renewed energy to embed NFE approaches into their everyday youth work.
Several participants expressed particular enthusiasm for digital storytelling, noting its potential to give young migrants a powerful channel through which to process their experiences and feel genuinely heard — not just as beneficiaries of services, but as authors of their own stories.
This Local Training Course marks an important milestone for DEVMIGRA in Jordan. The skills, tools, and connections forged over five days in Amman will ripple outward through the youth centres and communities where these workers operate — carrying forward the project’s commitment to inclusion, dignity, and the power of education to transform lives.
JYIF extends its gratitude to all participants, facilitators, and online attendees who made this training such a rich and meaningful experience. The work continues — and it continues with you.
